  • Story of Change

I loved that I was given an opportunity to learn from a professional the basics of what I needed to know and having the ability to practice in a much safer way. Although it was difficult to practice outside of what I had just learned and I needed to have multiple sessions. I had no idea how I was going to get to and from the driving lessons or afford how expensive they would be, and I had no idea about any of the paperwork that I needed, and all of that was swiftly taken off my plate, and it was amazing. It has changed my life tremendously. I can go anywhere and everywhere at any time. I would recommend this program if it was more mainstream and stable. I'd also recommend having a good support system and people who will help you along because it can be very stressful at times, but everything's okay now.

  • Story of Gratitude

Participant 1: “This program has been really, really helpful. I had no idea what a driver’s license is, how it worked, how to get it started or any of that.  My overall experience is a lot of gratitude for how helpful it has been. Everything is organized and planned out. The plan makes it easy and helpful to understand. I didn’t think I would do it on my own. I can’t be thankful enough for this project.”

  • Story of Support

Participant 2: “It’s been amazing. You are really great with talking to me about things and checking in with me. When we went to get the permit, you were really supportive. We were talking and had conversations and you made me feel really comfortable. It’s hard to get places on the bus so having someone to help me get places like driver’s ed has been really helpful.”

  • Story of Confidence

Participant 3: “I experienced a lot more than just driving. I learned how to talk with other people, pushing myself to do harder things has helped me motivate myself like I didn’t think I could…before this I wasn’t going anywhere and not talking to anyone. I have been able to get myself out there more, I have been going to the library and be more comfortable to be outside. Before it was mentally draining to get outside. I forgot how fun it was to socialize and talk to people. I was getting comfortable with isolation. It’s been making me reflect.”

  • Story of Skill

Participant 4: ”It’s good and I like it. It’s helpful. At the same time there are only so many lessons, and to be honest you need to be driving for a while to be completely comfortable. That is kind of hard. You have to hurry up and learn how to do it right away. We need the skills that the driving school teaches you that regular people won’t teach you. But you also need someone to take you and practice what you learned.”

  • Story of Community

CASA: “Your organization has been working with a young woman whom I have been the CASA advocate for 4 years. I have tried personally to help her get her license but it has been a nightmare. …today she passed her test!!!!! I am so grateful. This will literally change her life! Will you please convey my gratitude to everyone? You have no idea of the magnitude of this gift. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

CPS Caseworker: “Your process helped these individuals get a driver’s license so seamlessly that it would take several non-profits to do the work you have done.”
